Americans Disagree on Credibility of News Sources
Red Pill or Blue Pill? Whichever you choose, your source of news is probably contrary to the other.
The YouGov poll has revealed that there is a divergence of opinion between Democrats and Republicans when it comes to determining which news outlets are credible.

Shocker, I know.
Many Americans don’t trust corporate news media today.
It’s interesting to consider when this shift took place and really solidified a permanent change in how we consume daily news content.
Based on the results of a YouGov poll that was released earlier this week, Americans only trust their grandma’s favorite news channel “sometimes”.
The poll taken in April revealed a significant divergence in how much faith people had in 45 news outlets.
The survey results revealed that CNN and MSNBC are the most polarizing; Democrats were significantly more likely than Republicans to believe that these outlets accurately convey the truth.
However, it appears that it may be easier to persuade Democrats as they were more likely than Republicans to trust various media organizations, even the conservative-oriented New York Post.
The results of the survey showed that The Weather Channel was deemed the most trustworthy news source, followed by PBS and the BBC.
On the other side of the spectrum, relatively few people had faith in Breitbart News, The Daily Caller, or InfoWars.
Other notable low-trustworthy L’s from the survey include BuzzFeed News, which recently shut down and laid off 15% of its staff, HuffPost, and The Daily Beast.
The Impact of Streaming on Television
This can be seen in the way streaming services have impacted television viewing.
The rise of streaming platforms has changed the way we watch television, making it more accessible and convenient for viewers.
By offering more content and allowing viewers to watch shows on demand, streaming services have revolutionized the way we experience television.
The Nielsen data indicates that cable news ratings could be suffering due to a lack of trust from the public; only 40% and 38% of people respectively trust CNN and Fox News.
In March, CNN had a dramatic decrease of 61% in its prime-time viewership as it works to reinvent itself with new oversight.
After Fox removed Tucker Carlson from its prime-time lineup, the network saw a 29.6% drop in viewership the week following the $787.5 million legal settlement for the defamation incident.
The way we communicate has changed drastically over time.
From verbal forms of communication, we've shifted to non-verbal forms, such as texting and social media.
This has allowed us to interact and share information more quickly and conveniently than ever before.
Not all social media platforms emerged out of this survey untarnished.
According to the survey, TikTok was the least trusted social media platform, even among younger adults.
In contrast, LinkedIn was the only platform in which the majority of respondents expressed trust.
